THREE GAME-CHANGING QUOTES ABOUT DISCIPLINE

As January draws to a close, much of the content in my Knowledge Bomb newsletters has been focused on equipping you with the necessary tools to achieve your goals this year.

The key to unlocking all you desire this year lies in discipline.

To deepen your understanding of its essence, I'll share three distinct and powerful quotes that will provide valuable insights into what discipline is really all about.

Let’s dive in…

“At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I have to go to work — as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I'm going to do what I was born for — the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?”
~ Marcus Aurelius

Why not begin with a quote that has endured for over 2000 years, proving its timeless wisdom?

Marcus Aurelius, who reigned as the Roman Emperor from 161 to 180, also struggled occasionally with getting out of bed. He even penned journal entries to help himself overcome this challenge. So, if you find yourself hitting the snooze button, don't be too hard on yourself; even the mightiest have faced similar struggles.

“I’ll tell you why discipline is so important. It’s the strongest form of self-love; it’s ignoring something you want right now for something better later on. Discipline reveals the commitment you have to your dreams, especially on days you don’t want to. The future you is depending on the current you to keep the promises you made to yourself yesterday.”~ Jordan Ferone

I've been watching Jordan's TikTok journey for a few months now, where he took on the challenging task of daily Ice Baths for an entire year.

This endeavour was particularly tough, considering he's based in Canada, where temperatures can drop to -20 degrees.

Now on day 407, Jordan's experience makes him a valuable source of insights on discipline.

"Think of Motivation and Discipline as two kinds of Friends. Motivation is like that, mate, who's great for a laugh but only turns up when things are easy and fun. They're alright for a good time now and then, but you can't really rely on them for the serious stuff. Discipline, though, is your best mate – always there, rock solid. They don't just show up when it suits them; they're by your side through thick and thin, ready to help you out whenever you need it."
~ Jay Alderton

I want to conclude with a quote from my upcoming book that I've been crafting this year.

Understanding the distinction between motivation and discipline is crucial. Both can be allies in your life, aiding in your endeavours.

However, be cautious about depending solely on motivation to achieve your objectives, as it may fail you at crucial moments.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this issue of my Knowledge Bomb Newsletter!

See you next week for another instalment
